Lake City Early Childhood Center of the Arts is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by engaging and challenging them to become leaders. We will continue our academic focus on literacy. Our goal is to build fluent readers, thinkers, and writers. Establishing these foundations will prepare them for success throughout their lives. Our theme is a continuation of the goals we have set, “Growing Leaders…Inspiring Readers!”
The mission of LCECCA is “Building Excellence: Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day!”
We are committed to teaching all of our students the Leader in Me’s 7 Habits of Happy Kids. Additionally, we are committed to teaching the “3 R’s: Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Responsible”. These life skills are the foundation of our school rules.
Professional Learning Communities take place each week to provide engaging growth opportunities for our staff. Professional learning is strategically designed around the needs of the school, as determined by our MAP, IRLA, and progress monitoring data. Our focus will continue to be to enhance our teaching practices to prepare our young leaders to be successful throughout their educational careers and throughout life.
LCECCA is an Arts in Basic Curriculum Certified site and we focus on the following four C’s: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We use the arts as a pathway to reach every child. We have been able to provide multiple experiences through arts-focused field trips, collaborative units of study, and Artists-in-Residence. We also continue to implement the PBIS program school-wide. Students have really grasped our expectations of being Ready, Respectful and Responsible leaders. Through our Arts integration, Leader in Me, and PBIS implementations, students are becoming well-rounded individuals and are building the foundations to be college and/or career ready.
The integration of arts activities also increased parental involvement. Performances such as our spring performance of Little Red Riding Hood provided an opportunity for students to gain self-confidence and show off their learning to the community. Other family-based events held included parenting nights and art projects to complete as a family. The School Improvement Council and Arts Steering Committee continue to collaborate in the development of other community/parent-based events. It has been our privilege to watch our students grow throughout the school year. We are all truly proud of our accomplishments at Lake City Early Childhood Center of the Arts.
