Lake City Early Childhood Center is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by engaging and challenging them to become leaders. We will continue our academic focus on literacy. Our goal is to build fluent readers, thinkers, and writers. Establishing these foundations will prepare them for success throughout their lives. Our theme this year is be, “Growing Leaders…Inspiring Readers!”
The mission of LCECCA is “Building Excellence: Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day!”
We expect that all students will learn and embrace “Living the Panther Way…Doing the Right Thing Even When No One is Looking.” We are committed to teaching the “3 R’s: Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Responsible”. These life skills are also our school rules. Professional learning opportunities take place each week to provide growing opportunities for our staff. Professional learning is strategically designed around the needs of the school, as determined by our school’s MAP, DRA, and progress monitoring data. The core focus is to enhance our teaching practices to prepare our student’s to be successful, not only throughout their educational careers, but throughout life.
LCECC is an Arts in Basic Curriculum Certified site and we focus on the following four C’s: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We use the Arts as an avenue to reach every child. This year, we were able to provide multiple experiences through virtual Arts-focused field trips, collaborative units of study, and Artists-in-Residence. LCECC implemented the PBIS program, as well as, the Leader in Me program throughout the school building. Students have really grasped our expectations of being Ready, Respectful and Responsible leaders. Through our Arts integration, Leader in Me, and PBIS implementations, students are becoming well-rounded individuals and are building the foundations to be college and/or career ready.
The integration of Arts activities also increased parental involvement. Performances such as our spring performance of Hansel & Gretel provided an opportunity for students to gain self-confidence and show off their learning to the community. Other family-based events held included parenting nights and seminars, virtual presentations and art projects to complete as a family. The School Improvement Council and Arts Steering Committee continue to collaborate in the development of other community/parent-based events. It has been our privilege to watch our students grow throughout this school year and adapt to the events of COVID-19 so well. We are all truly proud of the entire family here at Lake City Early Childhood Center.
