Spaulding Middle School serves students in grades sixth through eighth. Our mission is to become a high-performing, world-class school that engages all students in exemplary teaching and learning experiences in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment.
Our dedicated staff is committed to fostering a nurturing and safe school where our scholars can receive high-quality instruction that engages all students. We feel that it is essential that we provide students with the knowledge they need to become world-class citizens. The South Carolina Graduate profile serves as our guide for our scholars as they develop world-class skills and life and career characteristics. The South Carolina Curriculum Standards are the foundation for all instructional courses. Scholars who meet the academic criteria have the opportunity to take Algebra 1, English 1, and Foundations in Computing for High School credit. We have several elective courses and clubs that complement our academic program here at SMS. In addition, our school has a full-time school guidance counselor, a mental health counselor, a school nurse, a community facilitator, a career specialist, an assistant principal, instructional assistants, math and English interventionists, and several support staff members.
All faculty and staff members are committed to ensuring our scholars are always engaged in exemplary teaching and learning experiences. In 2018 and 2019, our school received an Excellent rating from the SC Department of Education. (There was no state rating in 2020 or 2021). We also received the Palmetto Silver Award. SMS is the home of the Upper Pee Dee Reigning Football Championship.
Spaulding Middle School is a data-driven school where our teachers regularly collaborate in our PLC Lab. We have a comprehensive guidance program that helps students develop positive self-esteem and responsible decision-making skills. We also have several athletic offerings that prepare our student-athletes for high school competition and promote good sportsmanship.
