Jasper County School District is focused on ensuring that every child receives a quality education, and that Teaching and Learning remains our commitment. Jasper’s mantra is “Student-Centered…Future-Focused!” In other words, our students remain our ‘Why’ and will always be the center of our work.
To ensure that our students are excelling academically, our students have a plethora of resources at their fingertips to support their academic success. Academic resources such as Paper Tutoring is one example. This is an online resource that is available, at no charge, to our students, 24/7. Our students also have the option to utilize such academic online platforms as MyAccess to assist with Writing, as well as iReady to enhance Reading and Math skills. The consistent use of these academic online resources are used to provide integral data to assist our educational professionals with needed information to make sound decisions.
More specifically, the work that is accomplished in Jasper County School District is not only possible because of the great educators we employ, but also because of the amazing partnerships we have within the community. Our business and community partners are a vital part of our district. We continue to receive phenomenal support from Sun City residents as well as residents of Margaritaville via the annual ‘Fill the Bus Campaign.’ Each year, our students are blessed with bookbags, uniforms, and school supplies via the generous donations made possible within the community. Further, our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Lowcountry continues to grow, each year, as they partner with us to provide after-school academic intervention support to our elementary students. In addition, United Way of the Lowcountry continues to fill our classrooms with volunteers who are passionate about helping our students become confident readers, to also ensuring that our students have books of their choice in their homes, yearly.
As we continue to work to ensure that our students become world class citizens, we could not be prouder of our student’s success regarding completion of certifications and associate degrees via our Dual Enrollment Initiative with the Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) and USC-Beaufort. Jasper’s scholars continue to reach many milestones by defying the odds because our Dual Enrollment outcome has increased from two students to five students receiving associate degrees and fifteen students receiving certificates. In addition, our students have taken advantage of the many pathways available via our CTE Program options. Jasper’s students earned X certifications as CATE Completers.
Looking ahead, Jasper County School District is showing improvement as measured by the state’s accountability model. While for some, the outlook may look dim, for those of us who do the work daily, we realize that we offer effective and efficient systems that address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of our students – the future is bright. Jasper County School District will maintain a high level of integrity and ensure that all students have a meaningful learning experience every day, one child at a time. Jasper County School District remains proud of its accomplishments and remains- “Student Centered and Future Focused” as we ‘Excel Beyond Barriers.’
