Fairfield County School District is committed to helping all students develop world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe and academically challenging learning environment. Fairfield County School District strives to prepare students to lead productive and successful lives once they graduate and enter the workforce, attend college, or actively serve in the military. We believe that every child should possess strong content mastery, as well as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills that allow them to ask questions, seek answers, and express what they have learned in new and innovative ways. Through the integration of technology into all curricular areas, all students are provided with opportunities to enhance their 21st century skills while utilizing meaningful and effective educational tools and resources.
This past year, our STEM Early College Academy continued to serve students in grades 7-12. Students who completed this rigorous program not only received a high school diploma, but also earned an Associate's degree as well. In May, Midlands Technical College (MTC) awarded Associate degrees to 15 graduating seniors and certificates to two graduating seniors from Fairfield Central High School. Also, the determined Class of 2021 earned over 1.9 million dollars in scholarships and financial aid. Additionally, high school students are afforded the opportunity to take dual credit courses offered by Midlands Technical College throughout their high school experience.
During the pandemic, students continued to be afforded extracurricular opportunities to compete in academic and artistic competitions at the state and national level. Fairfield County prepares students for personal success by helping students develop responsibility through positive actions, self-discipline, perseverance in achieving personal goals, and an appreciation for the value of service and contributions beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to be involved in several mentoring programs that target and cultivate personal success, growth, and resilience.
