Abner Creek Middle School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by offering a wide range of academic, leadership, service, fine arts, athletic, and other opportunities. Through AVID, students build critical thinking, organization, collaboration, and college and career readiness skills that prepare them for future success. Our Wolves of the Workforce career speaker series connects students with professionals from a variety of fields, helping them explore career pathways and understand the skills needed in today’s workforce.
Abner Creek Middle School celebrates student achievement through recognition programs that honor academic excellence, positive behavior, leadership, and strong character. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests and develop leadership skills through numerous clubs and extracurricular activities. Advanced academic opportunities are available through high school credit courses, including Spanish I, German I, Geometry, English I, Fundamentals of Computing A and B, and Art Honors. During the school year, 133 students in grades 7 and 8 successfully enrolled in one or more high school credit-bearing courses, demonstrating a commitment to academic rigor and achievement.
The school prioritizes the well-being well-being of all students through the use of Panorama surveys and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which help foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Our House System promotes belonging, positive relationships, leadership, and school spirit while encouraging students to exemplify strong character and citizenship.
Students also have opportunities to develop leadership and service skills through programs such as the Student Athlete Leadership Team, whose members mentor younger students at Abner Creek Academy, and Best Buddies, which promotes inclusion by pairing general education students with students with special needs to build meaningful friendships and connections.
Abner Creek Middle School is proud of its award-winning fine arts programs in band, orchestra, and chorus, as well as its thriving theater program, which recently produced Beauty and the Beast Jr. Students also benefit from strong athletic programs in football, basketball, and volleyball that emphasize teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and sportsmanship. Together, these opportunities help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to become successful graduates and productive citizens.
