At Knightsville Elementary School (KES), our mission, vision, beliefs, and goals are summed up in three simple, powerful words: Love, Learn, and Lead. From the moment you enter our doors, you will experience a deeply caring, collaborative culture where student safety and high-quality instructional practices are our absolute priorities. We are immensely proud to have been awarded the National Showcase School Award from the Capturing Kids' Hearts organization for the second consecutive year—a testament to our commitment to nurturing safe, emotionally secure, and connected environments for every child.
As a proud community school with a 94-year tradition of excellence, KES thrives on the strong partnerships between our families, teachers, and community stakeholders. Our 2025–2026 student enrollment consisted of 805 inspired learners who benefited from a highly skilled faculty dedicated to the students’ well-being and academic success. As part of the high-performing Dorchester School District Two, we understand that a child must first feel safe and valued to learn at their highest potential. Through the collaborative efforts of our Parent and Family Engagement Center, PTA, School Improvement Council, mentoring programs, and Title I services, we actively wrap our arms around our families. We also proudly foster community connection and civic pride by celebrating our active-duty military families and honoring our local Veterans.
Our commitment to high-quality instructional practices ensures we are helping all students develop the World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our educators work collaboratively in professional learning teams, continuously analyzing multiple assessments to make precise, data-driven decisions. With a renewed focus on closing learning gaps, we target rigorous, evidence-based Reading and Math strategies to maximize individual academic growth. During the 2025-2026 school year, we prioritized strengthening math instruction across all grade levels to build a rock-solid foundation for future learning. Our “Project Refresh” theme emphasized existing foundational skills, utilizing highly effective, engaging instruction to enable each child to experience success at their highest level of academic achievement.
A safe and productive learning environment relies on clear expectations and positive encouragement. At KES, we seamlessly integrate Capturing Kids' Hearts strategies with our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, reinforcing our LOVE • LEARN • LEAD procedures from the very first week of school. With vital input from our students and staff, we established our school motto: “Champs Way, All Day!” This shared pledge of unity closes our student-led Morning Show to kick off an intentional day of learning, as well as it launches our students safely into their afternoons at daily dismissal. Through strategic instruction on core lifelong guidelines, our students do not just achieve academic success—they build the character, resilience, and citizenship necessary to meet the challenges of the future.
Our teachers, staff, and families work hand-in-hand to enhance communication by ensuring that students maintain the highest levels of academic engagement, focus, and physical and emotional safety throughout the day. We are deeply grateful for the continued dedication of our faculty, staff, and community partners to the legacy of exemplary learning at KES. Academic success for lifelong learners is our daily focus, and we are committed to achieving even greater heights in the years ahead.
CHAMPS WAY, ALL DAY!!
