It is always great to be a Honea Path Middle School Cub! In collaboration with the leadership of our District Office and the Anderson School District 2 Board of Trustees, we have provided world class opportunities for the students we serve. It is our expectation that when our students leave Honea Path Middle School, they are competitive with other high school students from around the state and across the country. We aim to provide them every tool possible to be successful and have every opportunity available to them that fits their interests and goals at the next level. Honea Path Middle School is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing students access to World Class Knowledge, teaching them World Class Skills, and instilling students with a strong set of Life and Career Characteristics. To help our students meet our expectations for them, we focus on teaching rigorous, on-pace standards in all core content areas. We utilize instructional best practices to focus on problem solving, critical thinking, and frequent assessment. Additionally, we emphasize the critical nature of focused instructional time, and we continue to enhance and improve a learning environment that protects it each day. Moreover, as a National PLC Model School, we place a high premium on targeted student interventions that are data-driven.
Additionally, Honea Path Middle School challenged our students with a rigorous curriculum, including 51 out of 110 8th grade students (roughly 46%) who were enrolled in Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, and/or Fundamentals of Computing. These are high school level, credit bearing courses, and this places those students on a path towards college readiness before they arrive at the high school setting.
In addition to core academics, Honea Path Middle provides a variety of related arts including the following: Agriculture, Art, Art Ideals, Beginning Band, Advanced Band, Music Ideals, Physical Education, ProTeam, Reading for Enjoyment, Gateway to Technology, and Fundamentals of Computing. The variety of programs we provide give our students an opportunity to develop their interests numerous ways while we continue to maintain focus on developing their core academic skills. These classes stand alongside the high-quality intervention programs we provide which include Read 180 and Math 180 courses and a Strategies class that helps students develop tools for success.
We are proud of the outstanding work that took place in the 23-24 school year, and we look forward to sustaining and enhancing student success in the future. As always, we appreciate the continued support from parents and guardians, our School Improvement Council, our PTO, our local business partners, community stakeholders, and the ASD2 Board of Trustees. We are proud and honored to serve a wonderful and supportive community. Once again, it is truly great to be a Honea Path Middle School Cub! Go Cubs!
Sincerely,
John Michael Hall, Principal of Honea Path Middle School
