Sampit Elementary School has approximately 293 students from Pre-K through fifth grade. Our school is committed to helping all students develop world-class knowledge, skills, and characteristics of the South Carolina Graduate Profile by providing a comprehensive curriculum in all areas. Our extensive curriculum encourages students to strive for excellence at every developmental level and evolve into self-motivated learners.
The student's educational, social, and emotional needs are met through smaller class sizes, a comprehensive reading program, innovative approaches to mathematics, cross-curricular connections, daily interventions and enrichment, and a schedule that allows for the continued professional development of the faculty and staff. This individualized approach ensures that each student's unique needs are met, fostering their personal growth and development.
Our balanced literacy program engages students in meaningful instruction in multiple facets: whole class, small group, individualized reading, and writing experiences. Through active engagement, modeling, coaching, and discussion, students are equipped with many strategies to develop their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. The Panther Reading Program promotes independent reading at school and home. Vital unit planning strategically integrates social studies and science with our literacy instruction.
The mathematical curriculum blends exposition and discussion, individual and group work, projects, explorations, and investigations. In each grade level, students experience hands-on, student-centered, small-group activities that introduce them to various mathematic concepts.
Technology, music, art, physical education, and after-school clubs provide opportunities for continued growth and development for students at Sampit Elementary School.
Students needing core remediation or skill gap interventions in reading and math receive intensive small-group instruction in the classroom (Tier II) or with an interventionist (Tier III). Our teachers engage weekly in the Professional Teaching and Learning Cycle (PTLC) to enhance instruction. Teachers collaborate in grade-level and cross-curricula sessions to plan meaningful standards-based lessons and assessments.
Sampit Elementary School places a high value on family involvement. We actively encourage and welcome their participation, recognizing the crucial role they play as partners in their child's education. This collaborative approach ensures a more comprehensive and effective learning experience for our students.
Academic success is a top priority for all of our students. We understand the significant impact of a safe and loving environment on student performance. At Sampit Elementary School, we strive to create such an environment, where students are not only academically challenged but also nurtured to reach their full potential and become lifelong learners. Our mission is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to LOVE, LEARN, LEAD, GROW, and SUCCEED in all aspects of life.
