Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by remaining focused on our school’s vision of helping our learners set goals and work with integrity to become leaders who strive for excellence! At Lambs, we promote a student-centered climate and culture. This year we continued with teacher and student collaboration on the development of clear classroom visions, codes of cooperation, and many Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Collaboration at Lambs Elementary took place in order to ensure student success, academically and socially. Classroom teachers collaborated with many others to ensure student growth. Reading and math interventionists, along with teachers of students with exceptional needs and teachers of students whose second language is English, collaborated with classroom teachers daily. Our staff collaborated with school guidance and outside supports to implement the Second Steps social-emotional curriculum for all students. At Lambs, we wholeheartedly believe that collaboration and teamwork are critical to student achievement.
Collaboration, along with communication between parents and teachers, helped to ensure student achievement at Lambs. During the first semester of the school year, all parents attended a parent-teacher conference to discuss their student’s areas of mastery and areas for growth. Teachers and parents were then able to develop action plans for helping students with academics at both school and home.
Communication between home and school took place on a weekly basis via our Thursday folders. Other forms of communication included conferences, newsletters, phone calls, and emails. Our parent communication survey revealed that parents felt welcomed when entering school. Parents communicated that they appreciate the scheduling of parent-teacher conferences in a flexible manner. At Lambs, our ongoing goal is to have consistent communication with parents and to involve them in the events of the school.
Lambs Elementary School continues to fully support the vision of the Charleston County School District. Our goal is for every child to graduate with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in life.
