WILDER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
2025-2026
Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering academic excellence through data-driven, standards-based instruction. We utilize a variety of assessment tools—such as Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), Next Steps Guided Reading Assessment, daily formative assessments, common assessments, and running records—to inform and guide our teaching practices. Collaborative structures like the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and ongoing professional development play a vital role in tailoring instruction to meet students’ individual needs. Weekly grade-level planning meetings with our instructional team further enhance teaching and learning across the school.
Every student has access to a district-issued Chromebook, and we leverage digital platforms like Exact Path and DreamBox Math to boost engagement and personalize instruction.
Our academic focus centers on reading, writing, and math. This year, we fully implemented the Accelerated Reader (AR) program to promote daily reading. To celebrate student achievement, we offer access to the AR Store and host quarterly celebrations for students who meet their reading goals. We also support math fluency with weekly classroom fact competitions and a quarterly Math Bowl, motivating students to master the math standards for their grade level.
Effective communication is essential to our mission. We keep families informed through our school website, social media, newsletters, Title I and SIC meetings, parent workshops, conference nights, academic progress reports, school events, our marquee, and routine parent-teacher communication. The annual SIC Report to Parents also keeps stakeholders engaged.
Beyond academics, we emphasize character and citizenship. Our students and staff actively support charitable causes such as Jump Rope for Heart, March of Dimes, Relay for Life, and United Ministries. Schoolwide events—such as Red Ribbon Week, Spirit Weeks, Read Across America Week, and American Education Week—help students grow both socially and academically. We are especially proud to honor veterans and support military families throughout the year.
To promote positive behavior, we recognize “Students of the Month,” and celebrate achievements such as Principal’s List, Honor Roll, and Effort Honor Roll each quarter. Students demonstrating SOARing High traits and good behavior are rewarded with weekly treats from the principal, quarterly celebrations, and opportunities for class pizza parties through our Super Soar Token system.
Ultimately, our goal is to cultivate literacy and prepare every student for success in college, career, and life beyond high school.
