E. L. Wright Middle School, partnering with the Center for Knowledge (CFK) is helping all students develop the world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by having teachers to be thoughtful and strategic in designing learning experiences based on the South Carolina State Standards. Both school have received national magnet school certification by the Magnet Schools of America.
E. L. Wright continued to stay true to our focus on high school readiness in three years. Our awesome teachers maintained an intentional focus on instructional pedagogy to support student achievement goals, collaboration, and using data to inform instruction. They stepped up the challenge of being creative and innovative in teaching our students to be critical thinkers.
Our Warrior family has continued to excel in relationship building and increasing academic performance. This year we turned challenges into opportunities. It also required meeting the social and emotional needs for adults and students. Faculty, staff and administrators continued with the implementation of Capturing Kids' Hearts as well as incorporating social and emotional (SEL) experiences.Through intervention time periods, our teachers offered numerous hours of tutoring during each school day. Additionally, we provided content recovery sessions after school as well as offering the opportunity for Extended Day learning. Relationship building, increasing academic performance and teacher retention in our school continued to be our three primary targets this year.
We are proud that E.L. Wright Middle School students have been recognized with several accomplishments for the 2022-2023 school year. This year the Band and the Orchestra received recognitons. Awards received were 7th and 8th grade Orchestra performances at the SCMEA Midland Solo & Ensemble Festival at Westwood High School where they received a Superior with Distinction and several students were accepted into 2023 Midland Regional Orchestra. E. L. Wright also recognized a number Junior Scholars for there many academic talents.
Our International Baccalaureate (IB) and Leadership Academy at Wright (LAW) magnet programs are both certified by Magnet Schools of America. Additionally, we continue to grow and develop students in our Dual Language Immersion program for a second year.
As a continued part of our serving learning efforts, our awesome students, faculty, staff, community members and friends accepted the Principal Heart Challenge and participated int the Walk for Life. We continue to strengthen and expand our community partnerships. Neighborhood partnerships continue to support our students and our faculty.
Quarterly formative assessments show continuous growth for the first three quarters of the school year. All of our efforts continue to support our premier goal of high school readiness and focus on the world class skills of profile of the South Carolina of Graduate. Three to Get Ready! Our incredibly dedicated teaching staff keeps our focus on creating a premier academically engaging and relationship-building culture as we continue to challenge ourselves to be better at everything, every school year.
