Blenheim Middle School of Discovery is a rural public school serving a diverse population of 446 sixth-grade through eighth-grade students. We are committed to providing opportunities for students to develop the world-class knowledge, world-class skills, and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a laser-like focus on school-wide safety and security as well as academically rigorous instruction. We strive to prepare all students to be productive citizens and provide them with the essential skills to be successful beyond graduation. Additionally, we are committed to raising the academic achievement of all students through project-based learning, arts integration, and cross-curricula literacy integration. In order to provide high quality instruction, BMSD teachers engage in ongoing professional development sessions focused on research based instructional practices, common assessments, data analysis and effective technology integration. Sessions are developed and determined based upon data collected from various assessments, teacher surveys, observations, student needs, and school-wide and district goals.
Teachers continue to incorporate the 1:1 technology model to maximize students’ understanding of content and concepts. Grade level team meetings are utilized to assist and train teachers on using these devices to best benefit instruction. Additionally, teachers and students use the devices to assist with progress monitoring through platforms such as Mastery Connect and IXL.
Blenheim Middle School of Discovery strives for excellence in academics, arts, and athletics. We provide opportunities for students to participate in visual and performing arts through art, band, chorus, and dance. We are excited about the following points of celebration for the 2022-2023 school year:
- Earned the School Choice Leadership Award in appreciation for participation in National School Choice Week 2023
- Three students qualified for the South Carolina Region Honor Band
- Two students qualified for All District Band
- Two students won first and second place in the District Spelling Bee
- Three students won the District Character Education Student of the Month
- One student participated in the Pee Dee Regional Spelling Bee
- Won the 2022-2023 District Middle School Football Championship
- Won the 2022-2023 District Boy's and Girl’s Middle School Basketball Championship
Blenheim Middle School of Discovery follows a high expectation and continuous improvement model, focusing on rigorous instruction, student engagement and achievement. We make every effort to provide an educational environment in which all students have the opportunity to demonstrate that they have what it takes to “SOAR” (Superior Behaviors, Outstanding Attitude, Academically Focused, and Respectful Actions). Blenheim Middle School of Discovery faculty and staff will continuously strive to ensure students obtain the knowledge and skills required to be successful citizens in a global economy. We will continue to expose our students to people of different cultures and social groups so they may embrace diversity and be able to make connections with others.
