Mauldin High School is helping all students develop world-class skills as well as the life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through a continued focus on academic excellence. This is achieved through intentional collaboration with our students, staff, parents, and community. Mauldin High School continues to be successful in all measurable areas of growth and achievement for all students. A 2023-2024 survey distributed to faculty, parents, and students revealed high levels of satisfaction with the school and its learning environment.
Mauldin High School is a district and statewide leader in academic achievement. The school has among the district’s highest passing averages on the End-Of-Course assessments. Additionally, Mauldin is a district and state leader in the measurement of college and career readiness. For the 2023-2024 school year, Mauldin maintained its status as having one of, if not the, highest college and career readiness success rates in the district and is among the top 5% in the state in that category. The Class of 2024 earned scholarships totaling over $34 million including 390 with Life Scholarships, 55 students recognized as Palmetto Fellow recipients, and 1 National Merit Finalist.
Advanced Placement exams were administered to 598 students who took 1,030 exams. Our academic program is supported by dynamic counseling and career development staff who meet with each student multiple times a year to evaluate academic progress and review college and career plans.
The band program was identified as a 2024 5A State Marching Band Finalist, earned a Superior with Distinction in Grade 6 in the South Carolina Concert Performance Assessment, and earned the 17th consecutive Outstanding Performance Award, the highest award for bands in South Carolina..
In athletics, we have 6 Region 1 AAAAA Championships, 27 All State student athletes, 2 Region Coaches of the Year, 100 All Region Athletes, a collective GPA of 4.22 and 5 Individual Athlete State Winners. Additionally, 14 Mauldin High School students signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
The MHS student council raised $130,041 for Battle Buddies of the Carolinas during the 2023-24 school year during their annual Spirit Week. Student Council also hosted tailgates before football games, held a community Trunk or Treat, and hosted a classic car show. All events helped build the relationship between the school and community
Our Teacher Cadets program secured a Memorandum of Agreement with Clemson University to grant dual credit (college credit) to students who successfully participate in career preparation opportunities in 2023.Our dual enrollment program has grown in partnership with both Greenville Technical College and Clemson University. Mauldin High School offers 17 different courses including mathematics, English, history, business, health science, medical terminology, criminal justice, political science, and education (through Clemson). These courses have over 150 participants and result in hundreds of earned credit hours for our students.
Our Navy JROTC program was awarded with the Unit Achievement Award by the Naval Education and Training Command, an honor conveyed to those units that have demonstrated exceptional performance. The unit continues to provide community service as evidenced by our cadet’s selfless service to the local area by participating in nearly 1,200 hours throughout the school year. Our senior cadets had a combined average G.P.A. of 3.47 with 100% continuing their education at various colleges or universities. We had the distinct privilege of having nine cadets attend various leadership academies in three different states giving them the opportunity to return and pass on their experiences to their fellow cadets.
Mauldin High School has produced the first qualifiers in Greenville County School for the Seal of Biliteracy. In 2023, 8 students qualified for the Seal of Biliteracy based on their ELA overall GPA of a 3.0 or better and a qualifying score on the STAMP Assessment. In 2024, that number increased to 19.
Mauldin High continues to focus on mental health with its unique #MavsMAtter program where 1 day per semester is focused on mental health awareness and relationship / team building. NAMI South Carolina recognized the school with the 2023 Spirit Award for its Go Lime Green program. The school celebrated the statewide honor during Mavs Matter Day where students, teachers and administrators worked to raise mental health awareness and build school-wide relationships.
Mauldin High School is fortunate to have an active and supportive PTSA and School Improvement Council. Our volunteers donated over 46,000 hours of their time serving in a variety of tasks all directly supporting our students, staff, and families. Our SIC and Mentor Upstate maintained a successful mentoring program for our OnTrack students and others in need of support. The SIC and PTSA continued to support our school counseling department and social worker to provide a food pantry and weekend backpack program. This program ensures students in need have access to meals during non-school times.
Mauldin High School emphasizes shared ownership with accountability as we prepare future leaders through a focus on student growth, achievement, and perseverance.
