Old Pointe Elementary School is dedicated to supporting the development of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate's World Class Skills among all students. The staff at Old Pointe remains steadfast in their efforts to establish a conducive environment that fosters the acquisition of advanced knowledge. Each day, our students are encouraged to expand their critical thinking abilities, enhance their communication and collaboration skills, and nurture their creativity. Within a safe and nurturing setting, our students are exposed to academically challenging opportunities.
Instruction was delivered using a combination of virtual and in-person methods. Students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade were provided with HP devices to enhance their learning. These devices enabled students to engage in blended learning activities that encouraged active participation. Additionally, this year, every student received a copy of the book "The World According to Humphrey," and the entire school took part in the One Book/One School initiative. As a school, we maintain our dedication to continuous growth and enhancement, while upholding our longstanding values of professional development and fostering a family-oriented environment at Old Pointe Elementary.
Our dedicated staff actively engaged in professional development to enhance the learning experiences offered to our students, reflecting our commitment to educating the whole child. This year, we implemented school-wide Morning Meetings that utilized the InFocus curriculum which supported the social-emotional learning of our students. Our Panther P.R.I.D.E. PBIS initiative, a unique adaptation of the system, embodies five school-wide expectations: Positive attitude, Responsibility, Initiative, Determination, and Excellence. Throughout the academic year, students were acknowledged for demonstrating these P.R.I.D.E. characteristics. Notably, each recognized student's contribution directly contributed to quarterly school-wide recognitions, allowing all students to witness the collective support and unity within our school community.
Our Professional Learning Communities empowered our educators to enhance the degree of difficulty, create shared assessments, analyze data, and design instruction according to state standards and the specific needs of each student. Our teachers utilized techniques to support instruction at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels. We firmly believed that in order to enhance student learning, it was essential to actively participate in ongoing and focused professional growth, always placing student achievement as our foremost objective.
Moving forward, the Old Pointe school community will maintain its commitment to nurturing the overall development of every student. By delivering tailored instruction, offering necessary resources, and providing support, we aim to empower each learner to achieve their maximum capabilities. We take pride in the numerous accomplishments during the 2022-2023 academic year and eagerly anticipate even more significant triumphs in the upcoming year, as we continue to guide our students towards reaching their utmost potential.
