Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by preparing and supporting them to thrive in the global community. We provide a positive school environment in which the pursuit of educational excellence prepares students to become responsible, productive citizens by focusing on the whole child while delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences through the involvement of school, family, and community. We are a STEAM school, and earned our national certification in STEM through Cognia. We strive to incorporate our 5 C’s of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and community throughout our curriculum.
To achieve this level of success daily instruction is provided through Science of Reading, reading and writing workshop models, hands-on math, and guided math with an inquiry approach. An integrated approach to learning through student collaboration and team projects promote an environment which prepares our students for success. We provide sound research based practices to meet the individual needs of our students. The use of science kits, educational field trips, and guest speakers are a few of the resources we use to bring real world experiences to life in our classrooms. Push-in and pull-out intervention is provided for students when needed. We provide a Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for our student’s academic, behavior, and social-emotional needs. One incentive that our students particularly enjoy is the opportunity to earn and exchange “Bee Tokens” for various items.
Alice Drive Elementary believes that learning is a lifelong process involving family, school, and community cooperation. Our STEAM Week, Read Across America, extra-curricular clubs, and school garden have provided opportunities for family and community involvement. We have a strong partnership with several community businesses and faith-based organizations. Thank you for all of your support in assisting in the education of our future leaders.
Mr. Eric Masaitis, Principal
