Mitchell Road Elementary is developing the world-class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing and energized learning community that empowers every student to achieve success. Our school mission is to provide students with a quality education in a safe, inviting environment. In this environment, students learn responsibility, self-discipline, and respect for others. Our close-knit partnerships with parents and the community ensure that all students reach their highest potential.
Mitchell Road Elementary School is fully accredited by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission and proudly serves 610 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. Our teachers work diligently to provide learning experiences that engage students in creative, rigorous, standards-based learning experiences that enable them to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, our teachers regularly analyze student achievement data to make necessary adjustments to our instructional strategies that will support success for every student and meet the unique learning needs of our children. The teachers and staff have been trained and consistently implement Capturing Kids’ Hearts strategies with focus on social emotional wellbeing, relationship-driven culture and student connectedness.
Building and maintaining positive partnerships with parents and the community is essential in the overall success of our students. We pride ourselves in having a strong and active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Improvement Council (SIC). With the support of our PTA, SIC and community partners, we are able to provide our students with additional opportunities and resources such as student mentoring, a school pantry which includes food, clothing and school supplies, and various student opportunities for enrichment activities such as running club, Lego club, school chorus, student-led morning news show, Student Council, and gardening club. Through the assistance of multiple community partners, Mitchell Road Elementary has created and maintains a sustainable school garden which produces a variety of vegetables for students and families.
At Mitchell Road, we want our students to go beyond the classroom and become leaders in our community. With the leadership of our Student Council, we have held school-wide fundraising events for various non-profit organizations such as Make-a-Wish Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Pennies for Patients, Soles for Souls, the American Heart Association and the Greenville Hospital System Canine F.E.T.C.H. Unit. This year, Mitchell Road Elementary was recognized by the American Heart Association for our fundraising efforts. Mitchell Road raised the second highest school total in Greenville County.
Mitchell Road Elementary is a strong, family-oriented school where we pride ourselves on the successes of each child. Our school motto, “Learning Today…Leading Tomorrow”, is our driving force. We are focused on student learning as we develop future leaders.
