Ruby Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. We provide such an environment through the implementation of our school vision: to educate, empower, and inspire our community of young minds. We demonstrate this vision by challenging our students with best practices to reach their full potential and by the continuous professional development of our teachers. Our teachers are always seeking to learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom such as: full day child development, best practices, MTSS reading and math, research, science kits, small group guided reading, interactive read alouds, and support from Reading Interventionists and Literacy Coach. Our curriculum is based on student data, teacher observations, and listening to what our students tells us through their work. Our instruction is founded on the idea of meeting our children where they are and figuring out what they need through a variety of resources to provide high quality instruction. We are proud of our strong history of academic success. At Ruby Elementary we also have various programs outside the academic world to focus on the development of the whole child. School-wide we have focused character education through guidance classes and in the classroom. Students are exposed to various careers through Vehicle Career Day, anti-bullying opportunities, guidance lessons and classroom visitors, and Career Dress Day. Finally, we continue to offer Breakfast in the classroom. This program ensures all have a healthy breakfast and are ready to begin their day. At Ruby Elementary, family, school, and community must all share in the educational development of our students. Thank you for all of your support in helping in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
