“Belton Elementary is committed to providing a climate where ALL students can achieve and experience success. Our mission is to partner with the home and community to provide a safe, supportive and innovative learning environment to ensure ALL students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and core values needed for success. We strive daily to fulfill this mission by making Belton Elementary a place where excellence in education is expected. In addition to academic experiences that are delivered by skilled educators using research based best practices, BES provides opportunities for students to learn good citizenship through participation in a variety of service learning opportunities including the BES Sharing Tree and Jump Rope for Heart. Our school encourages positive citizenship and leadership through our BES House System, BES Yearbook Staff and BES Panda of the Week program. Our community is involved in the educational process through a variety of opportunities including our family curriculum nights and parent workshops which we were very excited to host in person this year. Community Business Partnerships help with special occasions like Water Day during which our Fire Department provide an enjoyable celebration for our kids. Our school is helping all students develop the world class life skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by engaging students through innovative instruction and providing them with opportunities to learn about careers through instruction and research. Our teachers collaborate to use student data to plan and provide rigorous instruction that meets our students where they are and grows them to their maximum potential. Our content and special education teachers also collaborate with our Gifted and Talented teacher, our interventionists and our related arts teachers to meet the needs of all of our students. A rigorous GT program that is infused with standard's based instruction is provided to push our students to deeper levels of understanding. Research based reading intervention programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Reading Horizons, and Leveled Literacy Intervention are used with our students to provide for their reading needs and bring them to level as quickly as possible. All of our related arts programs strive to integrate content standards into their programs whenever possible to support the instruction within content classes. Our media specialist incorporated a research project within her program this year to encourage students to research a historical figure of their choice and develop a biography on that person. We also provide an After School Merit Academy to further close achievement gaps through constant communication between the classroom teachers and the Merit Academy teachers. From the use of Ipads to facilitate individualized instruction to utilizing Google Classroom and other online tools to complete cross-curricular inquiry projects, our students use technology as a tool to maximize their engagement, collaboration, and depth of understanding.
Belton Elementary School is committed to developing students that have the world class skills and life/career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate. We look forward to continuing to provide engaging, research-based educational opportunities for all of our students in order to enable them to grow and develop into the citizens they were born to be.
