We are proud of our strong history of academic success. Our teachers are constantly seeking ways to improve professionally thus improving instruction and student learning. By using the current trends, best practices, and having high expectations, students are challenged to reach their full academic potential. This is the second year that students at Johnsonville Middle School utilized a one-to one device. Teachers continued to use the learning management system, Schoology, to incorporate various programs to help with the challenges that students face in today’s society. Some of these academic programs are: iReady, TE 21, APEX, BrainPop, Flocabulary and Khan Academy. Students also participated in Read to Succeed classes to develop and enhance close reading skills. The school added 4 instructional tutors who assisted students with Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions. Through the use of these programs, strategies, and interventions, many of the students showed individual growth by reaching their growth goals on iReady.
At Johnsonville Middle School, we offer various programs outside of the classroom environment to help our students develop into well rounded individuals. Many of the extracurricular activities and clubs include Capturing Kid’s Hearts, Incentive Celebrations for Academics and Behavior, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Junior Crusaders, Beta Club, Recycling Team, JMS Talent Show, FSD5 Drama Cast, and JMS Athletics. The drama cast performed an amazing production of the Adams Family. For the second football season, Johnsonville Middle School was a part of the “B” team in conjunction with the ninth-grade students from Johnsonville High School. The JMS basketball teams completed their first full season since COVID 19. The JMS cheerleaders cheered at both football and basketball games. Many middle school athletes also participated on high school sports teams such as volleyball, tennis, baseball, softball, golf, and track.
At JMS we believe it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to take an active role in the education of our young people. Thank you for your continued support and effort to help mold the future graduates and leaders of our community, state and nation.
