Camden High School’s “Commitment to Excellence,” in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities creates an environment for students to demonstrate the characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate and empowers them to change the world.
Academically, our focus on World Class Knowledge, World Class Skills, and Life and Career Characteristics ensures successful futures for our students. We promote career and college readiness through the continued use of rigorous coursework and technology-enhanced instruction. We tailor our Professional Development in technology to meet the individual levels of Camden High teachers. This was achieved by implementing strategies and techniques that were determined to be needed based on data collected by our Technology Integration Specialist. We use our Bulldog Enrichment to provide teachers with a dedicated time each day to reteach, tutor and or provide student support/enrichment. Additionally, we make instructional feedback a priority through scheduled observations and our Bulldog Walk-Through Observations.
Through athletics and extracurricular activities, we develop well-rounded, healthy students. Athletically, we received numerous regional and state recognitions. With regards to sports and athletics, we were Lower State Champions and Runner-ups to the 3A Football Champions. Our Volleyball, Girls' Golf, Girls' and Boys' Cross Country, Wrestling, Girls' Basketball, Boys' and Girls' Swimming, Girls' Soccer, Girls' and Boys' Track and Field, and Girls' and Boys' Tennis teams were Region IV Champions.
The Camden JROTC Academic and Leadership Teams continued to excel by successfully passing the first and second rounds of competition. Additionally, JROTC also received numerous awards from national organizations that award cadets for exceptional performance in leadership, academics, citizenship, and teamwork.
Our newspaper, Palmetto Leaf, received an honor rating, and students received individual awards in the Newsprint and Online Individual Awards from the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association. Furthermore, through our extracurricular activities, students regularly serve our community. Our Student Council raised $10,000 for United Way this year. As a community service, our school participated in Red Cross Blood Drives and raised money for Breast Cancer research through the Dig Pink Volleyball Tournament.
Through collaboration with our parents and stakeholders, our students develop the Characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate and feel inspired to become active, successful, productive, and confident members of society.
