Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing highly qualified teachers who have received extensive staff development in the areas of reading, mathematics, science, social studies and technology. The vision of Myrtle Beach Elementary is to be an innovative community of LEARNERS dedicated to the academic and social/emotional success of EVERY child.
Foremost, we believe that our purpose is to develop the potential of each student and ensure that all students become productive members of their community, able to adapt to a diverse, ever-changing world. We also believe that we have the obligation to challenge every student to meet higher academic standards than his/her current level. In order to accomplish this, we believe that our students deserve exceptional and passionate staff, who share our core values. Our core values are:
• We put service to students above all else.
• We take responsibility for the success of all students.
• We care passionately about our work with children.
• We build strong positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
• We model and promote civility and integrity.
We are supported by our School Improvement Council, PTO, and various community organizations. Our School Improvement Council meets regularly to discuss the academic progress of our school and to discuss parental involvement activities and community support for school events. We have 100% parental participation in parent-teacher conferences. Parent Workshops are held throughout the school year focusing on the following areas: Early Reading Strategies, Gifted and Talented, Math, technology, and various parenting topics such as STEM, Read 2 Succeed, and Building Strong Families. These workshops were held at varied times of the day and off campus locations.
Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing opportunities that challenge students in the areas of academic, personal, physical, and social development Driven by SC State Standards, our staff provides rigorous curriculum that includes opportunities for acceleration, remediation, and enrichment through small group instruction, intervention, the gifted/talented program and after school tutoring. Students in all grades have access to digital devices throughout the school day. As our teachers and staff grow and work together, they continue to develop their skills by participating in professional development activities and focusing on instructional strategies to improve student achievement in all subjects.
Myrtle Beach Elementary is very proud of our accomplishments and are very excited about sharing these. Our students are to be commended for doing their personal best each day. Our work with Social/Emotional Learning has created a positive, safe school climate where everyone strives to be respectful, responsible, and build positive relationships. Students are recognized for making good choices and using appropriate life skills. The partnership between home, school, and community has been vital to our success this year. Our community support, PTO fundraisers, Donors Choose (a program that funds teacher requests for instructional materials), business partners, and student council. Our school family participated in Jump Rope for Heart and Pink Out Day. These events were a huge success and were achieved by teamwork.
