Armstrong Elementary School is helping all students develop world class skills as well as life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging learning environment. Our mission at Armstrong is to be “Committed to Opening Doors of Opportunity” by caring more than others think is wise, expecting more than others think is possible and achieving more than what is expected. The faculty and staff at Armstrong Elementary believe that all of our students will achieve academic growth and individual success one child at a time.
Throughout this school year, our faculty and staff participated in various professional learning opportunities in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Student-Centered Learning with a focus on the Growth Mindset, Inclusive Practices, and Social Emotional Learning. Our professional learning activities provided implementation of best practices, more depths of knowledge questioning to guide students’ learning, and practical hands-on opportunities for teachers to continually learn and evolve to meet the changing needs of students and the curriculum.
Armstrong Elementary provided many opportunities to support the academic success of students. We continued the Balanced Literacy and Response to Intervention (RtI) programs to support struggling readers in kindergarten through second grade. In addition, we added an afterschool program to assist students with more learning opportunities in the areas of Reading and Math while also adding Reading Interventionist in First and Second grades. The interventionist provided more reading supporting during Guided Reading and Writing instruction.
Our PTA continues to work diligently with the school staff to provide opportunities to promote student achievement and parent engagement through activities such as volunteer opportunities, Lunch and Learn workshops and Regional Team Quarterly Celebrations for demonstrating good character skills.
We are committed to meeting the needs of each student in order to prepare tomorrow's leaders and help them achieve their personal best. Each child is important and deserves the very best we have to offer.
