Through the continued expectation of academic excellence that earned us a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award, joined with an intentional focus on each student’s individual leadership potential being developed through Leader in Me, Chukker Creek Elementary School is ensuring all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Keeping our purpose and mission at the heart of our daily actions, we provide a safe, rigorous, and engaging learning environment helping students reach their individual potential.
Leading through Creativity and Innovation:
The Leader in Me framework provides us with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops his or her unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education and their self-confidence, responsibility, and initiative grows. Our students quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best. As part of our Leader in Me initiative, we have established a Student Lighthouse (leadership) team that allows student leaders to play an active role in improving our school. Additionally, Running Club, Lego League, Dance Crew, Art Club, School Musicals, and community service projects give students opportunities to express their talents, support their fellow students, and give back to the community around them.
Leading through Collaboration:
The faculty and staff partner with parents and the community, to enhance the learning opportunities for all students, ensuring we develop responsible, productive citizens of strong character. At Chukker Creek Elementary, teachers collaborate and analyze a variety of assessments to provide research-based interventions to effectively meet academic and social goals for each student. Using a wide variety of teaching methods and developmentally appropriate practices to provide an instructional program, teachers help each student reach their full potential. Demonstrating the importance of being lifelong learners, faculty members participate in professional development targeted at expanding their skill sets and Professional Learning Communities allowing for collaboration and learning from our greatest asset, each other.
Working in conjunction with our PTO Board and School Improvement Council (SIC), meeting the goals set forth in our five-year strategic plan drive our actions, ensuring we serve all our students unique needs. The variety of programs we implement focus on the development of the whole child. These programs support the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of our students. Our character education program continues to expand through the recognition of safety patrol, flag patrol, school wide incentives, Leader of the Month celebrations, and positive parent postcards.
At Chukker Creek, we believe the school, family, and community all play a major role in shaping the lives of our youth. Together with our stakeholders, and through the implementation our school purpose and vision, we are developing our future South Carolina graduates, and ensuring students #LearnLeadSuCCEed.
