Florence County School District Five (Johnsonville) is a welcoming, safe, student-centered, and collaborative learning environment.  In partnership with parents, students, board members and the community, Florence Five staff members are dedicated to helping all students meet performance expectations and achieve their full learning potential. We strive to meet the needs of every child every day.

Florence School District Five is committed to helping students develop the world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by implementing rigorous standards in language arts and math for career and college readiness. The school district is focused on providing authentic learning opportunities for students while providing teachers with ongoing professional development focused on best practices in areas such as student engagement, backward by design and quality core instruction.   All schools are focusing on the use of data to better customize learning for students so that mastery of standards can be achieved.

Florence School District Five has taken many necessary steps to help our struggling students achieve success through student focused interventions.  Our MTSS process includes individualized academic interventions for those students who have the greatest need.  Daily interventions focused on the individual student needs has provided our students with an opportunity to overcome any learning gaps.  

Students in Florence County School District Five benefit from the positive practices offered through Capturing Kids Hearts as well as programs implemented through the 21st Century After School Program.  The faculty and staff strive to create an environment for all students focused on helping students connect through relationships and positive character.  Much progress has been made due to the commitment and support of parents, students, staff members, school board and the community.

The Johnsonville High School Boys Baseball team finished as the Single A State Runners up.

The graduating class of Johnsonville High School amassed over $1 million dollars in scholarship money, had students achieve Palmetto Fellows and several student athletes that signed an intent to play college athletics. 

Florence County School District Five worked diligently in the 2021-2022 school year to implement the District Strategic Plan to support the mission statement and to meet the needs of every child every day.
