Midlands Middle College (MMC), a public charter high school located on the Airport Campus of Midlands Technical College, is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Through an individualized approach, the caring staff at MMC assist each student in taking ownership of their learning and developing a path toward success. MMC provides a fresh start for students who are looking for something different than a traditional high school and serves to bridge the transition between finishing high school and beginning college or a career.
As a TransformSC school, MMC is committed to providing our students with real-world learning opportunities. Through collaborative projects, field studies, service learning, and more, students at MMC are developing the knowledge, skills, and characteristics that will enable them to find success after high school, both in college and the world of work. Communication and collaboration are two critical components of that success, and our students work to refine those skills every day. Students are encouraged to think creatively, and our staff help them bring their ideas to life.
The location of MMC on a college campus offers students a unique opportunity while still in high school. The college atmosphere allows students to experience a higher level of both freedom and responsibility in a supportive environment. Eligible students who participate in dual-enrollment courses can earn college credit, proving to themselves they can be successful and increasing their confidence and likelihood to enroll in college after graduation.
MMC recognizes the importance of media and technology skills today and has invested the necessary resources to ensure every student has access to modern equipment. Teachers assist students in using the technology as a source of research and a means of communication, while still expecting students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills. MMC students learn how to use technology responsibly and demonstrate that skill in classes school-wide.
As a public charter school, Midlands Middle College is an option for any 11th or 12th grade student in the midlands area of South Carolina. Our students work to complete their high school diploma, potentially earn college credits at the same time, and develop skills that will be beneficial in their futures. Our dedicated staff are committed to helping each student find his or her own definition of success.
