Lugoff-Elgin High School (LEHS) is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing World Class Instruction that focuses on a higher level of critical thinking and collaboration. We want our students to think critically about course content and be able to communicate thoughts and solutions about complex problems using creativity and collaboration. Our 1:1 laptop program is instrumental in allowing our teachers to provide quality instruction that is appropriate for students at all levels, and it is a primary way for our students to be able to collaborate and communicate in ways that mimic the global workforce. Additionally, our teachers spend time in professional development to stay abreast of the latest instructional techniques. Teachers collaborate and plan for ways to teach across the curriculum and literacy units are implemented across all subjects. The goal for our school is for all students to engage in reading and writing on a daily basis.
At Lugoff-Elgin High School, we not only believe that our instruction should be at its highest level, we think that the content should be rigorous and challenging for all students. We seek to assure that we provide students with the opportunity to take the most demanding courses of study in all areas. We offer the opportunity for students to complete collegiate-level coursework through our Advanced Placement offerings and dual enrollment agreements via a partnership with Central Carolina Technical College. We also understand the importance of learning the skills to participate in critical thinking and collaboration beyond our classrooms. All of our course offerings are either college preparatory or prepare our students to achieve certification in a field of study by taking courses at our partner school (WTC).
Lugoff-Elgin High School also provides our students with the ability to participate and excel in a vast array of extracurricular activities. In the academic arena, our publications courses was awarded the SC Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association Publications and Electronic Media Awards. We were also, once again, recognized as a Unified Champion school. Our JROTC Drill Team was selected for the 2021 Army Drill Nationals. Additionally, our teacher of the year, was selected as an Honor Roll Teacher, finishing amongst the top five finalist for state teacher of the year. Our athletic programs also had a phenomenal year, with three teams claiming region championships, with the softball team earning the Class AAAA state championship.
We also provide a variety clubs that give students the ability to learn leadership skills while fostering a sense of community and philanthropy. Lugoff-Elgin High School will continue it's "Legacy of Excellence" by developing the leaders of tomorrow. We are PROUD TO BE LE!!
