Woodland High School is helping our students develop world class skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success. Our school’s motto “Knowledge is Power” and our school’s core value words of High Expectations, Integrity, Excellence, and Respect serve as the foundation for our efforts in preparing our students for a global world.
During the 2020-21 school year, the COVID 19 Pandemic bought many challenges to our teachers and students. Despite these challenges, we were able to provide high levels of instruction through virtual and face to face learning.
Our teachers continue to implement strategies, interventions, and best practices that are necessary and relevant to move our students academically. It is imperative that we implement educational programs and provide curriculum that is in alignment to the state standards. Therefore, we are constantly reviewing and implementing new strategies and programs that move all our students to their desired targets. We provide benchmark testing, universal screening, and other assessments for our students to determine focus areas for instruction. We also provide opportunities for initial credit and credit recovery through our South Carolina Virtual School Franchise Program. Each of our students are provided a digital one-to-one device. Extra help and quarterly attendance make-up opportunities for all students are also provided. We have successfully implemented the Accelerate program in partnership with the SC Governor's School for Science & Mathematics as well as a new state of the art Drone Certification Pathway curriculum.
At Woodland High School, we believe all students should be involved in programs, organizations, and athletic opportunities outside of the classroom. We believe it is important that we develop well-rounded students. Our ROTC Battalion works with the Red Cross by hosting several blood drives during the school year and has recently be recognized as an honor unit with distinction. The Interact Team also participates in the Back Pack for Buddies Program through the local Rotary Club. Our FBLA and FCCLA clubs are also highly competitive and influential on our campus.
At Woodland High School we believe in the team approach. We strive to create an environment of support for faculty and staff by providing materials and equipment to do their jobs. We strive to be a parent friendly school by treating all parents with respect and providing an “Open Door” Policy for parents, guardians, and community stakeholders. We understand that students who have involved parents or guardians are more successful in school.
A special thank you goes to our School Improvement Council Team, PTSA, and Student Council for their contributions to the success of our school.
