Summit Classical School (SCS) is dedicated to ensuring all students have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and characteristics emphasized in the Profile of the SC Graduate by creating an educational environment that focuses on the whole child. Our goal is to provide students with the skills to succeed, the characteristics to compete, and the opportunities to display the knowledge they have gained to fulfill their dreams. We are truly committed to preparing students for the future!
SCS is a classical elementary school in South Carolina. We offer our students a traditional curriculum that provides our students with the tools that enable them to think, to understand, and truly grasp the relationships between the subjects they study. Our classical curriculum provides high-quality instruction in phonics, literature, history, math, science, and social studies that gives our students the opportunity to exceed established standards. SCS focuses on providing exceptional, student-centered classroom instruction that promotes collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity. We also want to ensure that students have a genuine respect for others, an appreciation for diverse viewpoints, and an ability to solve conflicts peacefully. This is accomplished through the Core Virtues Program. It ignites the imagination of our students, inspiring them to do and be their best. The program is a catalyst for academic success because it encourages the habits of the mind and heart that are necessary for quality scholarship.
We are fortunate to be a 1:1 school and provide each student with a Chromebook to facilitate learning. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive board, and we use several software programs to support the instructional needs of both students and teachers. NWEA MAP assessment data was used, in addition to other common assessments, to measure student progress. Students also had the opportunity to participate in our afterschool tutoring program, Summit Seekers and out Summer Program, Camp Read-A-Lot.
Even during the COVID 19 pandemic parents and community members had the opportunity to participate in several parent activities via ZOOM and face-to-face: Title I Meetings, Parent-Teacher conferences, Movie Night, Kindergarten Graduation, Awards Day, and Field Day. We are looking forward providing even more opportunities next year!
At Summit Classical School, we are proud to be a Title I school and are dedicated to our students, as well as all other stakeholders. We eagerly accept the challenge of guiding our students as they become responsible, independent learners in a developmentally appropriate
