Student Learning
Our faculty is dedicated to continuous improvement in order to learn and implement best practices for preparing students to have the needed skills for the 21st Century. As results of data analysis and professional development, teachers are able to develop plans and tailor instruction to best meet students’ needs. A variety of instructional strategies are used to enhance student achievement by means of increasing student engagement and differentiating instruction. Multiple opportunities for student growth include: individual/small/whole group instruction, flexible grouping, and leadership opportunities.
Extended Connections
The classroom learning is extended through our arts and technology opportunities where the students are allowed to express their talents and skills. Students are afforded the opportunity to become involved in BFE Marching Band, technology and Performing Arts productions. All clubs are designed to allow students to develop personal interests, responsibility, and social skills necessary help them throughout their school career and life. Character education is a very important part of our school as well. Opportunities to develop strong character and leadership skills include participation in the Student Leadership Team, mentoring groups, First Tee, monthly character education lessons, and school programs and events.
Community
As a proud part of this community, we have a rich heritage for excellence in academics, arts, and community involvement. Our community plays an active and supportive role in our student’s success. Our School Improvement Council (SIC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and volunteers continue to provide support in the quest for excellence at our school. We recognize that building relationships and immersing ourselves into our school community assists in building an important bridge between home, school, and community. We share in many school community events including parenting workshops, curriculum nights, holiday programs, and other activities.
“The Ferry” is truly a special place. As we move forward, we will remain committed to the success of all students. As always, GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT THE FERRY!
