Cottageville Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring and academically challenging learning environment. We provide rigorous, standards-based instruction and integrate character development into the curriculum in order to help all students achieve personal success and become responsible and productive citizens.
Our instructional staff strives for excellence through the implementation of standards-driven instruction, participating in professional development and implementing the Professional Learning Communities at Work model. Our teachers collaborate weekly with one another and instructional coaches to develop rigorous lessons, engaging strategies, and appropriate assessments. CES teachers and the CES Leadership Team assess the academic progress of our students, reflect upon the data and use the data to plan effective and engaging lessons.
Cottageville Elementary School continues to implement the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) program which rewards our students for exhibiting positive behaviors. Utilizing the PBIS model has proven to increase engagement and attendance and decrease behavioral incidents and suspensions.
Cottageville Elementary School believes that fostering strong relationships with parents and community is essential for student achievement. CES is fortunate to have a supportive Parent Teacher Organization, an active volunteer program and School Improvement Council, along with business partners that support the growth and development of all learners. An essential component of family and community engagement is the use of strong communication strategies. Ongoing positive communication and relationships with families help to build trust. Trust is an important part of maintaining partnerships with families in order to best meet the needs of our children. Communication and opportunities for parent involvement are robust and frequent. Parents are updated on all school events through various platforms such as our website, social media site, Class Dojo, automatic dialer, monthly newsletters, etc. Parents and community members assist with dances, reward events, community involvement events, after-school clubs which promote a secure environment and increases community engagement. Cottageville Elementary School staff and students support community organizations such as March of Dimes, American Red Cross, Relay for Life, Lowcountry Food Bank, and Jump Rope for Heart to give back to the community.
At Cottageville Elementary School we believe our mission “to utilize best practices to prepare every child in becoming a productive citizen” is being accomplished with the support of our staff, students, parents, district personnel and school community. Thank you for all of your support in helping in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
