School County Schools worked diligently in the 2020-2021 school year to implement the District Strategic Plan to support the mission statement, “To educate all students by providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum with supportive programs.” We believe that all students can learn given appropriate learning opportunities as education is the shared responsibility of home, school, and community.
Saluda County Schools is committed to assisting all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing a learning environment focused on authentic learning opportunities. A multi-year, professional development effort centering on curriculum, instruction and assessment is the driving force of our academic accomplishments. Faculty are engaged in professional learning communities that address topics such as writing across the curriculum, balanced literacy, problem solving, academic feedback, student engagement, and assessment practices that include performance tasks.
Students of Saluda County Schools experienced learning opportunities with an enhanced focus on computer science and engineering. Saluda High and Saluda Middle offer their students options in Project Lead the Way to accomplish the goal of solving real-world problems by developing their critical thinking skills. Hollywood Elementary offers its students intense learning opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) curricula units.
Professional development training continues to be a focus of Saluda County Schools. Teachers participated in training in social and emotion health, strategies for ELLs, and literacy. Teachers also participated in digital devices training to ensure that our students are college and career ready for the digital work place.
The graduating class of 2021 amassed over $4.5 million dollars in scholarship money and Saluda High School continues to exceed the State graduation average.
The Saluda High Girls Basketball Team won the AA State Championship.
The graduating class of 2021 had 7 Palmetto Fellows.
The graduating class of 2021 had 4 student athletes sign national letters of intent to play college athletes.
The graduating class of 2021 had 7 students join the Armed Forces.
The graduating class of 2021 had 85% of its students accepted to a 2 or 4 year college.
The District and its five schools are accredited through the S.C. Department of Education and have earned additional accreditation and recognition for meeting high standards for a quality school system from AdvancED.
