Ware Shoals Middle School is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a challenging academic program. WSMS students are held to a high standard of academic achievement. Students are challenged to think critically and solve problems using collaboration and teamwork. Students are provided laptops to enhance communication and allow greater access to information. Teachers set high expectations and facilitate student learning to ensure continuous improvement in the academic contents. We make every effort to provide an educational environment where all students can be productive, contributing, and successful. We recognize students’ academic accomplishments through the Accelerated Reader Rewards, Semester Awards Day, District Spelling Bees, and Beta Club.
Ware Shoals Middle School has integrated the Life and Career Characteristics with our Student Code of Conduct. We teach integrity, self-direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic, and interpersonal skills to our students and reward those students who model the life and career characteristics. Students not only model those characteristics during the school day, they demonstrate those skills as they participate in extracurricular activities. Seventh and eighth grade students participate in school sports including football, basketball, cheerleading, softball, baseball, wrestling, cross country, boys and girls golf. The Recycle Troopers lead our students, faculty, and staff in a recycling program. The Student Council constructed an outdoor learning center. Students participate in service learning activities to give back to the community. This year our service learning projects included Relay for Life and Christmas is for Kids.
Ware Shoals Middle School teachers, parents, and community are united in our efforts to develop students socially, emotionally, and intellectually to assure that students reach their full potential.
