Lake Marion High School and Technology Center, located in the newly formed Orangeburg County School District, provides a rigorous, comprehensive curriculum to the students of eastern Orangeburg County.
Lake Marion High School’s commitment and the collaborative efforts of a dedicated instructional staff, supportive administrative team, engaged parents, and involved community stakeholders create a “Haven of Excellence” where students are inspired, empowered, and educated to become life-long learners and productive citizens in their communities as well as in a global society.
Lake Marion High School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by expanding our course offerings and collaborating with community organizations and businesses. LMHS offers courses such as Project Lead the Way, Biomedical Science and Engineering, College Summit, Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), dual enrollment with the Early College concept at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and most recently added Aerospace. LMHS's Automotive Technology program is NATEF certified in Maintenance and Light Repair and has AYES accreditation. Lake Marion High students benefit from post-secondary exposure through our partnerships with South Carolina State University’s GEAR-UP initiative and the Upward Bound program at Claflin University.
LMHS earned recognition on the local, state, and national levels with our student participation in various student organizations and clubs. Selected students participated in the Junior Leadership program with the Orangeburg Chamber of Commerce, and others participated in the School to Work Program. In addition, SC Vocational Rehabilitation Center placed selected students on jobs with local businesses. In the Career and Technology Education Department, students continue to compete on the state and national levels. LMHS JROTC Program collaborates with local churches and civic organizations throughout the year; and two JROTC students were recipients of Army ROTC scholarships. In the JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) program, students were awarded and recognized for public speaking, interviewing, and telephone techniques at the state competition. The LMHS JROTC program recently passed their five-year inspection; thus, retained the Gold 5 Star Rating as a Unit of Distinction.
To increase student readiness, LMHS is dedicated to helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate by providing high-quality educational opportunities leading to a successful college and/or career choice.
