The mission of Ware Shoals High School is to ensure continuous learning for all students by empowering them to be actively involved in their education and by providing varied opportunities for successful achievement of high standards. Our vision is to be an integral part of a community that is committed to learning, serving and leading. Ware Shoals High School continues to strive for excellence in all areas. The Ware Shoals High Learning Academy was successful in assisting our students in completion of credits formerly unattainable. Through Apex Learning, approximately 65 students were able to attempt to obtain credit leading to graduation and, in some cases, college credit. Our student body continues to serve our community with our annual “Christmas for Kids” fund drive. Our Squad 51membership has grown to fifteen. Ware Shoals High hosted the community Veterans Day program. The Million Dollar Band continued their streak of OPA’s, earning this distinction for the 5th consecutive year. The attendance and participation for CATE Day, and third annual TailCATE event, which highlights our Career and Technology students, was, again, at an all-time high. Our Guidance Department was able to secure over 30 presenters for our Career Day. Sixteen WSH scholars were accepted into the dual credit program at Lander University. In 2019-2020, they will take courses on the Lander campus that will count as high school credits and as hours for their freshman year of college. Our district provides tuition assistance and the books, making it very affordable and in keeping with our mantra of DESTINATION...GRADUATION! GreenwoodEDGE is a partnership between Piedmont Technical College and Greenwood School Districts 50, 51, and 52, county private schools, Greenwood Partnership Alliance, Greenwood County Council, Greenwood Promise, and local employers to provide training to high school students in high-demand occupations. Four of our students were accepted into the program. Two WSH students were selected by Fuji Films for internships. Both students are currently part of the GreenwoodEDGE. The faculty and staff at Ware Shoals High are dedicated to providing a safe, challenging, and educational environment that meets the unique needs of our students while preparing them to be respectful, productive, and responsible members of a democratic society.
