Greer Preparatory Academy (GPA) is located at 4520 Locust Hill Road in Greer, South Carolina, and is the sister school to Greer Middle College Charter High School. Greer Preparatory Academy opened its doors during the 2025–2026 school year, serving approximately 150 students in grades 6 and 7. Greer Preparatory Academy is committed to helping all students develop the competencies of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by creating a community of learners in which mutual respect, trust, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge are valued and appreciated.
We provide our community of learners with an environment that promotes our vision of developing well-rounded, college and career ready students through collaborative, engaging, and innovative learning opportunities. We demonstrate this vision by challenging students with research-based instructional practices, fostering leadership and character development, and supporting the continuous professional growth of our teachers.
The 2025–2026 school year marked an exciting inaugural year for Greer Preparatory Academy as we established a strong academic culture built on high expectations, meaningful relationships, and student success. Serving approximately 100 sixth-grade students and 50 seventh-grade students, our faculty focused on creating a personalized learning environment where every student was known, challenged, and supported. Through rigorous academics, to include Core Knowledge, leadership development, STEM experiences, fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities, students were encouraged to develop the skills necessary for future success.
Greer Preparatory Academy has built a number of support systems into the daily life of the school. Our commitment to small class sizes and individualized instruction allows teachers to identify students' strengths and areas for growth while providing targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities. GPA provides academic support through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), personalized learning, project-based learning, leadership development, family engagement initiatives, and continuous professional development for teachers. This ongoing evaluation of student performance enables us to better meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of every learner.
Greer Preparatory Academy has established strong partnerships with the South Carolina Public Charter School District and its member schools, Greer Middle College Charter High School, Greenville Technical College, local businesses, and community organizations throughout the Upstate of South Carolina. As the sister school to Greer Middle College, GPA provides students with a seamless pathway from elementary and middle school to high school while fostering a shared culture of academic excellence, leadership, and college readiness.
The success of our inaugural year laid the foundation for tremendous growth. For the 2026–2027 school year, Greer Preparatory Academy expanded into its permanent campus at 4520 Locust Hill Road and grew into a fully enrolled grades 3–8 public charter school serving approximately 800 students. This expansion reflects the confidence families have placed in our mission and our continued commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience for every student.
Greer Preparatory Academy remains dedicated to preparing students who are academically prepared, socially responsible, and equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to become productive citizens and future leaders. Through high expectations, meaningful relationships, and a culture of continuous improvement, GPA continues to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and future success.
