At Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science, we are committed to preparing every scholar for college, career, and life by developing the knowledge, skills, and character outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Serving the North Charleston community, we offer both a zoned school program and a partial science magnet program that combines rigorous core instruction with innovative exploratory learning experiences.
Scholars have opportunities to earn high school credit through Honors English I, Honors Geometry, Honors Biology I, Spanish I, and Discovering Computer Science. To ensure every learner succeeds, we provide a multi-tiered system of academic support through intervention classes, push-in services, and flex periods that blend targeted instruction with digital learning resources.
Academic success is strengthened by intentional character development. Through Restorative Practices and our school-wide culture, scholars develop perseverance, responsibility, empathy, accountability, and self-regulation while building positive relationships with peers and staff.
We are equally committed to developing the whole child. Partnerships with the Charleston County Department of Mental Health, MUSC Mental Health, and Communities In Schools provide valuable social-emotional support. Family engagement remains a priority through Donuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms, family book clubs, STEAM Nights, Family Movie Nights, Cultural Heritage celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and other events that strengthen connections between school and home.
Our strong partnerships with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and community groups create authentic learning experiences beyond the classroom. Our expanding STEAM program features a dedicated STEAM teacher/coach, a fully equipped Maker Space, and a competitive E-Sports program that foster creativity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
