As a STEAM School of Choice, South Pointe provides students with exceptional opportunities to explore and develop skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Our STEAM focus fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving while connecting classroom learning to real-world applications and future career pathways.
Our dedicated faculty and staff continually engage in professional learning and collaborative planning to ensure students receive high-quality instruction every day. By implementing research-based practices and innovative, high-yield, teaching strategies, we create learning environments where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.
Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, South Pointe continued to expand opportunities for student learning and engagement. Investments in technology and learning spaces have enhanced our STEAM initiatives and strengthened our commitment to innovation. Students now have access to cutting-edge resources including an aerospace flight simulator for Aerospace Engineering courses, an Anatomage virtual dissection table for Health Science and Biology classes, and “The Pointe,” a student-operated school store developed through a partnership with Founders Federal Credit Union. These additions complement our state-of-the-art makerspace, which serves as a center for creativity, design, and collaboration.
Academic excellence remains a cornerstone of the South Pointe experience. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves through a variety of rigorous course offerings, including Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and dual-credit classes. We are also proud to host the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) on our campus. Now in its ninth year at South Pointe, the program provides students with access to advanced coursework and opportunities to earn college credit while pursuing a challenging academic experience.
Beyond academics, students work closely with counselors, teachers, and families to create individualized pathways aligned with their interests and career aspirations. The Applied Technology Center further expands these opportunities by offering specialized programs that complement our STEAM curriculum. Students may also pursue studies in world languages, including Spanish and French, while exploring fields within the social sciences through courses such as AP Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice.
South Pointe’s Fine Arts programs continue to distinguish themselves through outstanding student achievement in Chorus, Band, Dance, Visual Arts, and Theatre Arts. Through the district’s 1:1 technology initiative, every Stallion is equipped with a personal laptop, ensuring access to learning opportunities both in the classroom and at home. As a Leader in Me School, we also intentionally develop leadership, communication, and life skills that prepare students to lead with confidence and purpose.
Student involvement remains a defining characteristic of our school culture. With more than 30 clubs, organizations, and athletic teams, students have numerous opportunities to pursue their interests, serve their community, and build meaningful connections. Our Student Council plays a vital role in fostering school spirit through service projects, special events, and activities that strengthen the sense of belonging throughout our campus.
Athletics continue to reflect our commitment to excellence in all areas of student life. Guided by our motto, “Where Champions Are Made,” South Pointe student-athletes excel both on the field and in the classroom. Every athletic team maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.5, while more than 100 student-athletes earned GPAs of 4.0 or higher. Across academics, athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities, our students consistently earn recognition at the local, state, and national levels for their accomplishments and leadership.
Preparing students for life after graduation remains one of our highest priorities. Through internships, job-shadowing experiences, career exploration opportunities, and college readiness programs, students gain valuable skills and experiences that support their future goals. Events such as our annual College and Military Signing Day provide an opportunity to celebrate student success and recognize their commitments to postsecondary education, military service, and career pathways.
