Hemingway High School remains committed to providing every scholar with a rigorous, engaging, and supportive learning environment that prepares them for college, careers, military service, and lifelong success. Guided by our vision, "To inspire scholars to discover, cultivate, and maximize the greatness within themselves," our administration, faculty, and staff continue to embrace the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by developing students who are academically prepared, career ready, and equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing global society.
Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, Hemingway High School strengthened its focus on academic achievement through the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Using ongoing data analysis, professional learning communities (PLCs), and targeted interventions, teachers met students at their individual points of need while providing rigorous, standards-based instruction. Classroom instruction emphasized inquiry, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and metacognitive learning experiences designed to increase student ownership of learning. Students benefited from research-based instructional practices supported through the use of MasteryConnect, Edmentum, Progress Learning, Canvas, and other instructional resources that provided timely feedback and personalized learning opportunities.
To ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning, all faculty members participated in ongoing professional development focused on high-impact instructional strategies, data-driven decision making, differentiated instruction, and student engagement. Weekly PLC meetings allowed teachers to collaboratively analyze student performance data, adjust instructional practices, and develop targeted interventions to accelerate student learning. Through classroom observations, instructional coaching, and collaborative planning, teachers continued to refine instructional practices that promote academic growth and student success.
Hemingway High School continues to provide students with meaningful opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. Scholars participated in numerous extracurricular activities, including Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), athletics, Career and Technical Education organizations, and other clubs designed to foster leadership, teamwork, and civic responsibility. Students also participated in career exploration experiences, college readiness initiatives, dual enrollment opportunities, and partnerships with local businesses and community organizations that broadened their understanding of future educational and career pathways.
The school remains dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. Positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders continue to serve as the foundation of our school culture. Parent and community engagement remained a priority through regular communication using district messaging systems, social media, conferences, school events, and our open-door policy. Student achievement, leadership, and positive behavior were consistently recognized through academic celebrations, awards programs, and student leadership initiatives.
As Hemingway High School continues its journey of continuous improvement, we remain focused on increasing student achievement, strengthening school culture, expanding college and career readiness opportunities, and preparing every scholar to become a productive citizen and lifelong learner. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our families, community partners, School Improvement Council, and dedicated faculty and staff whose collective efforts continue to make a lasting impact on the success of our students.
Together, we remain committed to Preparing Leaders. Inspiring Greatness.
