Griggs Road Elementary is committed to helping all students develop the World Class Knowledge, World Class Skills, and Life and Career Characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Through a rigorous Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade curriculum, personalized learning, technology integration, and a variety of co-curricular experiences, students are challenged and supported as they grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively.
At Griggs Road, our commitment to being a school “Where Everybody Belongs” is at the heart of our work. Faculty, staff, administration, families, and community partners work together to foster caring relationships within a safe environment where every child feels supported, empowered, and celebrated. Teachers use multiple sources of student data to guide instruction, and dedicated reading and mathematics flex times provide opportunities for targeted small-group instruction, intervention, enrichment, and additional support based on individual student needs.
Developing the whole child is an important part of the Griggs Road experience. Daily Community Time provides opportunities for social-emotional learning, relationship building, schoolwide initiatives, clubs, and House activities. Students can also explore their interests and develop leadership skills through opportunities including Chorus, Bucket Drumming, Art Club, Student Ambassadors and House Leadership Roles, Safety Patrol, Recycle Club, 4-H, Chess Club, Unified Club, Library Helpers, and other school activities. Gifted and talented opportunities in dance, music, and art provide additional avenues for fourth- and fifth-grade students to develop and showcase their artistic strengths.
Our SOAR expectations: Stay Safe, Own Your Actions, Aim for Excellence, and Respect All People and Places - provide a common language for positive behavior and citizenship throughout our school. Through our House System, students build relationships across grade levels, develop leadership skills, and earn points for demonstrating SOAR expectations. Bi-weekly House events, quarterly SOARing Eagle recognitions, and Student of the Month celebrations allow us to recognize students for achievement, character, leadership, effort, and positive contributions to our school community.
Technology also supports and extends learning at Griggs Road. As part of the Clover School District's one-to-one initiative, students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade have access to district-provided iPads that are integrated into instruction to enhance learning and help students become responsible and effective users of technology.
Griggs Road Elementary is proud to have received the 2024-2025 Palmetto Gold Award for High Performance, marking the school's third year of earning Palmetto Gold recognition. While state assessment results are one important measure of achievement, Griggs Road and the Clover School District use multiple sources of data to monitor progress, identify student needs, and continually adjust instruction to promote growth for every learner.
Family and community partnerships are essential to our success. Our School Improvement Council (SIC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), families, and community volunteers generously contribute their time, talents, and resources to support classroom instruction, student experiences, field trips, school beautification, family events, student recognition, and staff appreciation.
Through strong relationships, high expectations, purposeful instruction, and meaningful opportunities for every child, Griggs Road Elementary remains committed to preparing students for future success. Together with our families and community, we will continue building a school Where Everybody Belongs and where every Eagle has the opportunity to SOAR.
