Brashier Middle College is an award-winning charter high school located on the Brashier campus of Greenville Technical College in the fast-growing community of Simpsonville, SC. Preparing students for their future is our primary goal. It is reflected in our mission to provide a supportive, educational environment where each student is expected to seize the opportunity to graduate prepared for college and career. Students can take dual enrollment courses on the college campus with minimal cost, and textbooks are free. All students take a required freshman success course to help ease their transition to high school and provide them with the skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. All seniors complete a year-long project on a topic of their choice, where they learn many skills imperative to life after high school. These skills include time management, organization, reflection, public speaking, and perseverance. Through these opportunities, our students can hone their world-class skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, and communication.
A 2022 National Blue Ribbon School, Brashier is known for its history of academic excellence. We consistently score among the top schools in the state on standardized assessments. Seventeen members of the class of 2025 were named Palmetto Fellows, and seven seniors earned the SC Seal of Biliteracy. The class of 2025 earned over $3.5 million in scholarships. Our mastery learning approach allows students the opportunity to recover and retest concepts and requires them to earn 80% in each course to receive credit. This mastery learning process ensures that our students know the content at a deeper level. We have a variety of supports in place to help students achieve this goal. Academic assistance is offered each day after school. Students enrolled in dual enrollment courses take college seminar classes with a certified teacher concurrently. An academic interventionist works one-on-one with students who need additional instruction or remediation. We also support students with two full-time school counselors.
In addition to academics, our students enjoy a wide range of extracurricular and elective offerings. CTE completer pathways, pathophysiology, and criminal law are just a few of the elective courses we offer. Student Forum, our student leadership organization, can be joined by all interested students, ensuring that those who want to have a voice can. This group sponsors Spirit Week, Homecoming, dances throughout the year, pep rallies, and much more. Other student organizations include Youth Commission International, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Book Club, Code Zero, Link Crew, and Bengal Media Team. Our athletic program is robust with varsity-level swimming, cross country, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball teams. We also boast two back-to-back state championships of boys' cross country in 2022 and 2023. Two of our swimmers were named individual state champions in the fall of 2024 as well.
Our faculty and staff are second to none. Affording teachers the privilege and responsibility of creating their curriculum based on state standards helps ensure that only high-quality, dedicated teachers remain on staff. Professional development is offered both on-site and off. On-site training is coordinated through our instructional team, a group of teachers who lead constant reflection and improvement efforts. Both optional and required opportunities are available, helping to ensure our faculty has a consistent focus while meeting individual teachers' needs.
Our Brashier family of students, parents, teachers, staff, board members, and community partners are working together to create lifelong learners. Brashier Middle College is where college and high school come together. Our students accept academic rigor as the main focus of high school. We expect our students to take the challenge to learn and grow.
