Lower Richland High School is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and rigorous education that prepares students for success in college, careers, and beyond. Grounded in a rich cultural heritage and strong community support, the school fosters a nurturing environment where every student is empowered to grow academically, artistically, and socially. At the heart of our mission is a steadfast belief in unlocking potential—one student at a time.
Our academic offerings include the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum—Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme, and Career-Related Programme—along with Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Dual Enrollment opportunities. Beginning in the 2024–2025 school year, we expanded our IB program to ensure all students participate in this globally recognized framework. As part of this initiative, all third-year students were enrolled in IB English, providing them with equitable access to high-level instruction that focuses on critical thinking, communication, and global awareness. These programs challenge students to think critically, act responsibly, and excel globally.
The arts are celebrated through the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Advancement Grant, which provides students with access to a wide range of artistic disciplines. Lower Richland's robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) program provides hands-on, real-world experiences that prepare students for high-demand fields. The school's award-winning STEM program further enhances opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Lower Richland proudly celebrates student accomplishments, including over $11.5 million in scholarships awarded to the Class of 2025, as well as 214 CTE completers, with three of them being quadruple completers. The JROTC drill team's state and national victories, alongside state championships in basketball, highlight the school's strong extracurricular and athletic tradition.
Our school community is built on meaningful relationships with students, families, staff, alumni, and local partners. The Diamond Hornet spirit embodies resilience, pride, and unity—qualities that define our legacy and drive our future.
Lower Richland High School lives by its motto:
Diamond Hornets are always shining and buzzing with success.
