For over 75 years, C.A. Johnson High School has stood as a beacon of academic excellence, community pride, and rich tradition. As one of South Carolina’s last surviving historically African-American high schools, we honor our heritage while forging a bold path toward the future. Our students—past, present, and future—proudly carry the legacy of the mighty Green Hornets.
At the heart of C.A. Johnson is a commitment to fostering strong, positive relationships within our school and throughout the broader community. We believe that education is not just about academics—it’s about creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and prepared to thrive in a global society.
We are deeply invested in the holistic development of our students. Through innovative programs like Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET), and Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), we implement best practices that drive success. Our six career pathways—General Management, Biomedical Science, Health Science, Mental Health and Family Systems, Firefighter Training Academy, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)—equip students with real-world skills and experiences that prepare them for life beyond high school.
Beyond the classroom, our students engage in visual and performing arts, AFJROTC, dual enrollment, work-based learning, athletics, and a wide array of student-led organizations. These opportunities empower our students to explore their passions, build leadership skills, and develop a strong sense of identity and purpose.
We are actively renewing and strengthening our connections with parents, alumni, and community partners, recognizing that genuine engagement enhances the educational experience for everyone involved.
At C.A. Johnson High School, we are more than a school—we are a community, a family, and a living piece of history. We invite you to join us as we continue to grow, lead, and inspire future generations.
Hornet Pride. Honored Past. Boundless Future.
