Our school is helping all students develop the “World Class Skills” noted in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by continuously focusing on academic excellence and career development through the implementation of our student-centered school-wide goals. At Eau Claire High School, our team of talented teachers and administrators works diligently to create an educational environment dedicated to building positive relationships through collaboration, increasing academic rigor with a focus on critical thinking, and encouraging extracurricular activities while promoting student creativity. We are a Title I Program School that works closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement a Title I plan that includes strategic activities that support and enhance academic achievement.
Students entering Eau Claire High School learn the importance of collaboration beginning in their first year as they become a part of our Freshman Academy and participate in the “Bridge to Shamrock Nation” 8.5 Summer Rising Ninth Grader Program to prepare themselves for the challenges of being a high school student. Additional school-wide programming, including our advisory meetings, student mentoring groups, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Success Saturdays, and the After-School Homework Center, is in place to provide all students with the support and attention needed to achieve academic success. By using data to guide our path, we have consistently focused on the needs of individual students to ensure their achievement. We have seen an overall increase in our on-time graduation rate through our student-centered initiatives.
Our intensive professional development programming has provided our teachers with a variety of opportunities to learn and implement best instructional practices, which promote critical thinking. Professional learning in areas such as literacy across content areas, student advocacy development, technology-infused lessons, trauma-informed care practices, and high student engagement has helped teachers create lessons that focus on problem-solving and reasoning. Additionally, the implementation of the AVID and Visible Learning Systems promotes an atmosphere of college preparedness and career awareness with an increased focus on closing the achievement gap. Our students have the opportunity to explore careers and post-secondary educational options through various college campuses and career tours, as well as Alumni Career Fairs and our National Honor Society’s College/Career Fair. We continue to see evidence of academic growth in our End-of-Course Test Scores, along with our improved school climate and culture, over the course of the school year.
At Eau Claire High School, we are committed to developing future business leaders by encouraging our students to cultivate essential skills, including creativity, collaboration, communication, and strategic thinking. Through active participation in our expanding business class offerings of Real Estate I & II and Intro to AI, students not only express their creativity but also gain experience in project execution, team coordination, and public presentation. By engaging in the diverse opportunities available at Eau Claire, our students will graduate with the leadership qualities and global competencies necessary to thrive in the dynamic 21st-century workforce.
