Paris Elementary helps all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Established in 1912 and nestled at the base of Paris Mountain, Paris Elementary offers a unique educational setting rich in a tradition of excellence. Our mission is to prepare students to continue active, literate, and lifelong learning. We accomplish this through student-centered, research-based academic programs, which ensure the best possible education for our students.
Our highly trained faculty delivers instruction through integrated, standards-based units designed to engage students across subject areas. Our literacy framework is tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner, including in-class reading support through the virtual Amira tutoring program. In mathematics, students benefit from guided math groups, complemented by the Reflex Math program to reinforce foundational skills. Additionally, students extend their learning through personalized, computer-based platforms such as IXL and Reflex, which target their specific areas for growth. Science instruction features hands-on exploration through the use of interactive kits, while Social Studies is brought to life through project-based learning experiences.
The media center at Paris Elementary remains the hub for learning. The Exemplary rating of the media center reflects high quality content, up-to-date books, and the numerous resources available to students. An update funded by Paris PTA enhances the function of the media center.
Paris Elementary prioritizes the character development of students. Five lifelong guidelines and nineteen life skills are taught through the morning news program and modeled and integrated into classroom instruction. The school encourages parents to partner with the school by focusing on a life skill shared each week in the school newsletter. Citizens of the Year, the Kiwanis Terrific Kids program, and social-emotional learning (SEL) character lessons by the school counselor and teachers promote character development.
The strong support from our SIC, our PTA, and the surrounding community enriches the success of students at Paris Elementary. Our SIC works to foster career education, improve the social-emotional wellbeing of the students and staff, and to facilitate involvement of all Paris families. Our PTA contributes an enormous amount of time and financial resources to programs in the school which benefit all students, such as Artist-in-Residence, Reflections Arts Program, author visits, reading celebrations, library books, and the creation of outdoor learning and play spaces.
The school staff, parents, students, and community all work together to ensure student achievement and success. As we persevere in a new century of academic achievement, we build on the traditions of excellence which have always defined Paris Elementary.
