Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), a full-time, tuition-free public school program, is poised to commence a new academic year, offering students across South Carolina a reliable online learning option aimed at helping them achieve their full potential. While many families approach the new school year with cautious optimism, CASC continues to provide a secure online alternative that allows families to concentrate on their child’s future.
Authorized by The Charter Institute at Erskine and staffed by state-certified teachers, CASC adopts a personalized approach to education, delivering a comprehensive and engaging curriculum tailored to students seeking unique educational pathways. High school students at CASC have the opportunity to participate in the Career Prep Program, enrolling in courses that explore potential careers in Health & Human Services, Business, and Information Technology (IT). Additionally, students can earn college credits while still in high school through dual enrollment, offering them a head start in higher education and potentially saving thousands in college tuition costs.
Students choose online learning at CASC for various reasons, including advanced learning opportunities, a bullying-free environment, and the flexibility to support extracurricular activities or medical needs while maintaining academic focus. CASC’s online platform enables students to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment and at a pace suited to their learning style.
In an organizational update from the recent school year, David Crook, CEO of the governing Board of Directors, appointed Jamie Scorsone as Executive Director, responsible for overseeing the three CASC grade bands: Elementary, Middle, and High School. The elementary school welcomed a new principal, Krista James, while the high school saw Stephanie Wells take on the role of principal. CASC’s course offerings, electives, clubs, and extracurricular activities continue to expand significantly, including our growing Beta Club, which had students competing Nationally this year!
CASC remains at the forefront of educational innovation, being one of the first school districts in the state to integrate the Lexia LETRS program's research-based methods into its curriculum, emphasizing the science of reading. CASC is dedicated to student-focused education and upholds the highest standards of teaching and learning. Our highly qualified teachers engage students with top-notch curricula to ensure academic mastery, providing access to exceptional educational tools and resources that enable students to maximize their success, regardless of geographic, financial, or demographic circumstances.
