The mission of Berea Middle School is to provide an environment that balances love, support and accountability, so that all students are empowered to reach their fullest potential.
The vision of Berea Middle School is to be an academic site of distinction where college and career readiness skills are prioritized and all students have opportunities to access real-world activities and experiences.
Out motto is simple...Work hard. Be kind.
Berea Middle is an AVID School, where our work is aligned with the four domains of AVID: Instruction, Culture, Leadership and Systems. These pillars help to align our beliefs, goals and structures, while enhancing the school environment here at Berea Middle. (AVID = Advancement via Individual Determination)
While we are an AVID School, we have 6 AVID Elective Classes, where approximately 130 students are enrolled. Additionally, AVID can be seen in our school-wide policies as well. Instructionally, our teachers seek to learn and utilize AVID Strategies (WICOR) that not only allow for high engagement, rigorous instruction and a student centered focus, but also prioritize the skills needed in both a college and career setting.
We also have a wide variety of resources within our Student Services such as OnTrack Greenville, Community in Schools and Prisma Health.
To the core of who we are and what we believe, we believe that regardless of a child's circumstances and/or challenges, that with the right environment, the right teacher, the right instruction and the right structures, that they can be successful. We believe in our kids and all the potential they possess.
