Belton Middle School: Cultivating Future-Ready Graduates
At Belton Middle School (BMS), our daily mission is to empower every student to embody the World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We tirelessly work to unlock the potential within each individual, fostering integrity, respectable character, perseverance, and self-direction. Simultaneously, we cultivate essential interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic, all viewed through a global lens. These vital attributes are fundamental for success in both academic pursuits and life beyond the classroom. We are committed to providing a dynamic learning environment that nurtures these qualities in every student we are privileged to serve.
Our dedicated teachers prioritize student safety and utilize formative assessment data to tailor instruction, effectively meeting the diverse needs of our learners. We maintain a strong focus on rigorous Tier 1 instruction and are actively developing common assessments through IXL and Pear Assessments to meticulously evaluate student progress and drive data-informed decision-making. Our comprehensive curriculum extends beyond core subjects, offering enriching programs in Agriculture, Gateway to Technology, Chorus, Art, Band, Physical Education, and Career Exploration. These courses not only enhance academic understanding but also provide invaluable exposure to potential career paths and foster the holistic development of each child. We are immensely proud of our students' exceptional achievements in fine arts; both our band and choir programs achieved the highest possible honor, a "Superior with Distinction" rating, at the State Concert Performance Assessment conference.
Service learning is deeply ingrained in the fabric of Belton Middle School. Our students consistently demonstrate remarkable compassion and dedication, collectively raising thousands of dollars, donating countless items, and volunteering extensive hours to support critical organizations. Their contributions have significantly aided Hoops for Heart (American Heart Association), Belton Interfaith Ministries, United Way, the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, and numerous local families in need. This year, our students generated over $7,300 for the American Heart Association through the highly successful Hoops for Hearts event, expertly organized by our PE teachers, Coach Tessa Gambrell and Coach Cody O'Brien. Furthermore, the BMS BETA Chapter orchestrated an incredibly impactful campaign, contributing over $2,100 to the district's March of Dimes donation.
We firmly believe that strong partnerships with parents and the community are indispensable to our educational mission. We extend our profound gratitude for their unwavering support and collaboration, especially during a particularly challenging year, as they partnered with our staff to ensure the best possible educational experience for our students under all circumstances.
We eagerly anticipate a vibrant future for Belton Middle School as we continue our unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of all our students.
