Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a caring and engaging environment where students recognize and achieve their fullest potential through individualized strategies that lead to students' success. Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School is a place where everyone is welcomed and encouraged to be actively involved; everyone will respect and care for all people and things around them; everyone can grow and excel through hands-on science and technology-based learning; and everyone will receive interventions that are tailored to their individual needs. As a Cognia STEM accredited institution, our students are challenged to excel in a global society with the support of parents, highly qualified professional educators, support staff, and community members (our “village” of stakeholders).
At Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School, we are proud of the hard work, effort, and dedication put forth by our faculty, staff, and students. JMS is proud to announce that five 8th grade students earned the distinction of being named SC Junior Scholars due to their outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Our Algebra I students continue to have a passing rate of 100% on the state End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP). The JMS Mock Trial team was the only Aiken County representative team in the regional competition. Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School’s third-place finish in the South Carolina Bar Associations Annual Middle School Mock Trial regional competition qualified them to advance to the state finals. The JMS Concert Band performed at the South Carolina Band Director's Association Concert Performance Assessment in Summerville, SC and received 3 Excellent and 2 Superior ratings on stage for their three prepared pieces. Additionally, during the SCBDA Solo & Ensemble Festival Assessment – 68 students – the largest turnout from a single school in our entire region! – 45 of these students received Superior ratings. A 6th grade student at Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School, was the first runner-up at the district spelling bee.
Our active parent community serves on the Superintendent Parent Advisory Council, PTO, and School Improvement Council. Faculty, staff, students, and community members actively participate in our Veterans Day Program, Black History Programs, and STEM/AVID Literacy Nights.
Keeping in step with our mission, we have adopted an AVID state of mind where our school focuses on building systems for student advancement vi individual determination.
As always, our Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School students are "Thinking Today and Leading Tomorrow."
