Greenville Technical Charter High School (GTCHS) is an award-winning Middle College nestled in the heart of a progressive Greenville community. Established in partnership with Greenville Technical College, it is the first Charter school in SC, and the first Charter school in the nation to be awarded the National Blue Ribbon of Excellence (2010) and Palmetto's Finest Award (2008). In 2016, Students in Action received both the highest state and national recognition as part of the Jefferson Awards Program. GTCHS is also the recepient of the S. Joseph Bruno Leadership Award by the Building Hope Foundation, recognizing it as one of the national "Model Charter" schools (2023). GTCHS develops the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing all students in grades 10-12 the opportunity to take college classes for minimal fees on the college campus. The school also provides all textbooks for free. Personalized support is offered by the school through mastery learning, a comprehensive college and career readiness program, looping advisory and guidance system, and academic interventions. We have a strong fine arts and science program with aviation classes provided with the innovative AOPA curriculum. GTCHS is a unique place for learning and character building, with students expected to contribute 50 hours of community service each year. Since its visionary inception, GTCHS has been a flagship school of choice in our state; success has continued as evidenced by students' academic performance, thousands of college credit hours earned every year, national recognition, and a waiting list for admission.
